Pretty much all of our training has been along Linear Park and all the while we have been accompanied by the chatter, twitter, warble, squawk, screech, caroling, quacking, cawing and outright laughter of myriad birds; when we haven't felt much like walking it has always been the colours and chorus, the babies and the antics of the birds that have changed our 'drudgery' to joy. Sweet little reminders of God's amazing creation.

Day 22: Molinaseca to Cacabelos 23.5kms

It does seem like we're in a different world today; everything seems different ... the houses, affluence, a city with almost every surface graffitied, and in the midst a castle once the fortress of the Knights Templar. Not sure where the affluence is derived from, mining of slate, energy, or the vines. For the most part we have meandered through this day and the countryside, a really lovely day. We have again marvelled at the stork and today were able to see how the dozens of other little birds take up residence in their nests, have walked a path lined with huge and old cherry trees, and most houses boasting at least one tree laden with bright red fruit or the promise of an abundant summer. Ken was groaning, or maybe that was marvelling, all the way and at the first sight of a market, was in buying cherries.
