Pretty much all of our training has been along Linear Park and all the while we have been accompanied by the chatter, twitter, warble, squawk, screech, caroling, quacking, cawing and outright laughter of myriad birds; when we haven't felt much like walking it has always been the colours and chorus, the babies and the antics of the birds that have changed our 'drudgery' to joy. Sweet little reminders of God's amazing creation.

Day 18: Leon to Villar de Mazariffe 21.9kms

Kicking and screaming ... no, that wasn't really me leaving the Paradores in that manner! Over a breakfast buffet fit for kings and queens, or tea and toast for us, we were advised by a bold, veteran of Caminos to catch a bus to the outskirts of Leon to begin our walk for the day. We are now open to good advice, took it, and began again to learn the rhythm of walking. So in truth, 8.3 kms by bus and 13.6kms by foot. Blue sky, however much cooler. We were feeling much better although my body wasn't really feeling connected to any other part of me, yep that doesn't really make sense! Landscape uninspiring except for the wild flowers and the vivid purple of lavender growing wild. Beautiful, enough to lift any low spirit.
