Pretty much all of our training has been along Linear Park and all the while we have been accompanied by the chatter, twitter, warble, squawk, screech, caroling, quacking, cawing and outright laughter of myriad birds; when we haven't felt much like walking it has always been the colours and chorus, the babies and the antics of the birds that have changed our 'drudgery' to joy. Sweet little reminders of God's amazing creation.

Day 6: Logrono to Najera 32.8kms

Let's walk 33kms today ... says no one ever! I think someone other than me is happy to have at least one 30km day under his belt! We are now in La Rioja and obviously so as lines of vines are everywhere we look. Was thinking of you Momma and I am very thankful that I can walk at all, mostly upright. We decided to walk a lot further to arrive in a town with more bed options, still in a dorm but we have paid for sheets and a lovely bathroom - vs two toilets sharing with maybe 30+ others. We have had beautiful walking weather so far, today it started to rain just after we got into our room. The town was having a medieval festival when we got in so it was nice to walk around and see something different. I appreciate the smaller villages, as soon as the villages are of any size they are padded out with soulless and ugly apartment blocks. The old towns are all centred around their churches, and surprise, surprise, they are all on top of a hill! I have had no clarion thoughts as yet; it is taking all my energy at the moment watching where to walk, remembering to speak in another language albeit poorly, wondering about bowel movements, how much protein we are eating and fruit also, and how great the pleasure will be if we can ever get a cheap double room for the night.
