Pretty much all of our training has been along Linear Park and all the while we have been accompanied by the chatter, twitter, warble, squawk, screech, caroling, quacking, cawing and outright laughter of myriad birds; when we haven't felt much like walking it has always been the colours and chorus, the babies and the antics of the birds that have changed our 'drudgery' to joy. Sweet little reminders of God's amazing creation.

Day 13: Itero de la Vega to Villalcazar de Sirga, 29kms

You will be bored with me saying what a beautiful day, but that is what today was. We spent a lot of time lingering trying to spot the bird or the frog chorus; the last few days we have been haunted by the cuckoo bird for most of our day. We can hear, but not see. Along much of the way there are boards placed by the path listing the bird life, fish, trees to be seen in that particular area. Today I had 29kms to think about the beautiful mothers I know; a beautiful mother, beautiful daughter-in-law, beautiful sisters, all who embody the unconditional love and grace of mothering to their children. I am thankful for my boys who make me a mother.
