Pretty much all of our training has been along Linear Park and all the while we have been accompanied by the chatter, twitter, warble, squawk, screech, caroling, quacking, cawing and outright laughter of myriad birds; when we haven't felt much like walking it has always been the colours and chorus, the babies and the antics of the birds that have changed our 'drudgery' to joy. Sweet little reminders of God's amazing creation.

Day 3-4: Lorca to Villamayor Monjardin to Torres del Rio 19.5kms

Footsore, yes, however no blisters yet; thank you Helen for a bag of wool which we are sparingly taping onto some sore spots. Sketchy wifi so I have missed a day and already I'm trying to remember what has passed. We were blessed, in more than one way, yesterday to get two of the last beds in a Dutch albergue run by a Christian couple, we saw many people turned away after that which was disheartening ... even more for them! We had a lovely communal meal after grace was said and after the meal our hostess gave a short testimony and everyone was given a copy of the Gospel of John in their own language. I was very moved by their generosity and heart for people; Betty sought me out later knowing I was feeling poorly, checked me out as she is also a medical doctor, prayed for me. I have felt much better today, and think the cold turning into chest infection may be almost done with. We walked yesterday and today on paths winding through fields of gold (rape seed), wheat and barley, vines, and black plastic hiding its treasure of white asparagus. We are staying tonight in another beautiful village and large albergue with 50 beds; we did our best to find a double room as it appears some people having existential crises find it difficult to sleep without complete silence! I would think if I was having said crises, a "little" noise would be the least of my problems! I did say they had better walk faster than us then!

“You'll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You'll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.” ― Dr. Seuss
